View Full Version : Dark Souls 30 fps lock, 1024x720 resolution

This is going to be a pretty bad port.

The new content kicks off immediately with a hard-as-nails boss that will quickly whip retired Dark Souls players back into shape. The PC game includes mouse and keyboard support, but a 360 controller is preferable.

Something sweet within something that's sour.

Yeah and at least it seems like the game will be constant 30 fps, which isn't all that terrible so long as it never drops below 30. What pisses me off the most is the resolution lock. I was expecting to be able to play the game at 16:10 resolutions...now I'll probably have black bars.

Glad I didn't preorder.

Well that sucks, I wasn't expecting DX11 support and advanced rendering techniques but lack of higher resolution support and a capped 30FPS limit is pretty terrible.

But we asked for it and they delivered it to us, even with the knowledge that it'd be bad since they admitted to having no PC knowledge beforehand. For that reason alone I guess I'll buy it and support them; the game will still be playable and enjoyable but if this was any other game I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole with how bad the port is.

I paid full price on Steam, regardless that GMG has their 25% coupon. I got it because I wanted the DLC early, hopefully I can enjoy what I do get.

I enjoy my PS3 CE.

Watch the modders break that 30fps rubbish since the developer cant program for shit.

Yeah I actually hope that will happen and that someone can fix the issues because this is just a fantastic game that deserves to be played.

The sad part is that I'll still buy it since I don't have it on the PS3.

I'm going to get it eventually too. Maybe even at release just for the spike in PvP the first few weeks.

The game is great fun but the technical limitations, particularly in regards to the frame rates, makes me wish all the technical stuff was handled by someone competent like Epic or Valve.

mod fix already out

What is it?
It's an interception d3d9.dll that you place in the same folder as the game executable. It intercepts the game's calls to the DirectX 9 API and changes them as necessary to enable a higher internal rendering resolution.

Installing it atm.

Only 3.792 GB, which seems small.

too many good games to choose from. I want to play this, but I'm going to be busy with guild wars 2.
