Why do they only release shooters (I refuse to use the term "shmup") on the 360? And why do they always have the most basic graphics ever? Thunder Force IV looks much better than this. Aside from the fancy glow/lighting/transparency, it's not much more detailed than, say Virtua Racing. They should make these with sprites, not polygons. And what do spastic anime girls have to do with space shooters? Sorry if that ruins your day, eastx. I always seem to do that for you.

Apprantly according to CAVE it's hardwork getting Sony to approve a shooter on the PS3 which is why there all on the XB360. Don't know the exact details.

Yet there fun to play and can be a real challenge. Plus there is some real crap on the PS3 already I think it has more to do with the low sales then anything. The same reason SCEA rejected adventure titles in the US.

Stick with Thunderforce.

Nah, I'm more of a bullet hell shooter kind of player.

When I read shmup I'm always thinking more of a side-scrolling shooter like Contra. This is a spaceship shooter but not like the distinction matters in a genre that is(or has become in the last decades) already extremely niche.

Anyways the only spaceship shooter I really enjoyed as of late is Soldner X2. The first one wasn't that good but the second one did everything right and had a truly kick-ass soundtrack.

I respect that. To each their own. Not like it's expensive or anything.

I've been playing this game with a friend. It sucks. It wouldn't be bad, but most the backgrounds are brighter than your ship, or the same colors, and it causes you to very easily lose sight of everything. On top of that, half the bosses can't actually be defeated from the start, you just have to survive long enough for them to time out and let you move to the next stage. Once you've played through the game several times and gotten leveled up with better weapons you can start killing some of the bosses, but it's pretty lame that you have to play through so many times just to be able to defeat a boss.

Pfft! It adds replay value, I say. How many shoot-em-ups start you with a pathetic number of credits and don't increase the number until you've played for 9 hours or something? Tons of them - Ikaruga, Omega Five, etc. This isn't much different except that the whole game is available from the start and just gets more fun as your armament increases.

Also, playing in co-op would probably make them go down much quicker too.

Dude, this pisses me off. It's why I want a 360. Almost all the good 2D games are released on Xbox; so frustrating. Swear to god my killer app for 360 is Shadow Complex, that legend of the dishwasher samauri game, and all the other damn shooters.

It's not like Xbox 360s are expensive. You could even get one bundled with really great stuff on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) for a crazy price or other reasonably-priced bundles this holiday season.

Just published this article at Co-Optimus:

Otomedius Excellent Character Spotlight (http://www.co-optimus.com/article/7201/otomedius-excellent-character-spotlight.html)

It's a great way to check out the characters and learn what games they're from.

The long-promised Co-Optimus review of Otomedius Excellent (http://www.co-optimus.com/review/946/page/1/otomedius-excellent-co-op-review.html).

I also stuck the game in our Xbox 360 Holiday Buyer's Guide (http://www.co-optimus.com/editorial/941/page/1/co-optimus-2011-holiday-buyer-s-guide-xbox-360-edition.html).

Please note that the review was delayed by a week due to my being quite ill for a while now (still am, ugh). So it's not my most energetic work, but hopefully it conveys what's cool about the game to shmup fans and newbs alike.
