You could also just check magic-box's news section. They also may lower the price of games!

Now I'm waiting for the GameCube price drop! I'm going to get one if it's priced at $149!

05-14-2002, 05:33 PM
Do you guys think that the Xbox will go lower than 199 at this point? Since it couldn't outsell the PS2 at 299, wouldn't it be just the same thing.

...If the Xbox goes down. So does Gamecube. It can't afford to lose it's price advantage.

05-14-2002, 05:38 PM
XB might go lower, but if they go lower than $200, think about ho much money MS will be loosing from it, but they may sell more...

Yeah, I think the GC will go down even if the XB doesn't.

Even if the other two go down, Sony's gonna be in a great position. PS2 $100 cheaper, controller and memory cards cheaper, and a big thing to me, games may even get cheaper.

A little off topic. But did the PS2 first-party memory cards shortage ever get fixed?

...Any one think that PS2 could outsell GC and Xbox at 299 while they''re at 199?

05-14-2002, 06:01 PM
I haven't read anything on it, but I'm guessing it was. Why would they lower the price of them when they'res a shortage?

I think it may be able to sell more at that price for a little, but I'm not sure how long. Maybe it could sell at $299 for awhile, but I guess it's best to go to $199 now.

Gamespot hinted that Sony would drop game prices too. This is really good as PS2 will now become huge.

The PS2 already is a huge success, now it'll be even more popular.

Sony just did a great thing dropping the price of the PS2. Now more people can afford it (the casual gamers) and it'll be the biggest drop in the past couple of years. No doubt Nintendo will drop, most likely to $149. Which, by the way, is perfect, cause I really want to get a GC. I'll pick up a PS2 in the end of the year. Right now I need my Smash Brothers fix.

When I posted this topic at 8:00 a.m., Left Coast time (Pacific Standard Time), no one but EB & Gspot had anything up, I checked. Even IGN/Snowballs got caught with their pants down. In fact, at IGNs new newswire section some guy that goes by the handle of 'Stephen Coleman' didn't get anything up on the PS price slash untill after 10 am, and then he has the balls to "back date" his news article to the 14th like it was some kind of personal check!

Good question! I'll go check EBgames Europe/UK.

Well, did you find anything?
I haven't found anything...

Yes, I found that at eb.uk.com they are selling PS2 bundles that include a PS2 console, an 8MB memory card and an extra DualShock2 controller (that's a total of two DS2s) for 240 pounds sterling. That reads; "No price cut, yet."
The Xbox, however has been reduced in price to 200 pounds, and everybody knows about NGC in Europe allready.
