I agree with DS. I still don't know what the plot is.

Funny thing. I was talking to someone a couple months ago and they mentioned they were making an "Avatar" movie...he thought it was based on the Nickelodeon show.

according to the blurb Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people

And you were right .. the bloke that made 6th Sense has made it

When I saw Avatar, I thought it was gonna be a film of the kid with an arrow on his head.

It looks ok, I'll go watch it; and me thinks some of the designs are copied off Halo. Mainly because those ships with the spinning blades on either side look almost the same as Hornets, and the bigger ships look a lot like Pelicans.

Oh and Darren, the picture you posted... that is very disturbing.

Wrong Avatar. Do not want.

Looks like a friggin' Star Wars movie with all of that CGI flying around. I am truly disappointed that CGI has not improved much over the last decade or so. Still looks incredibly fake and you can spot it a mile away.

I am undecided on whether or not its going to be good. Want more footage, or information, before I decide.

Hmmm... what does Avatar remind me of? I just can't seem to put my finger on it.

Ahh, so George Lucas was actually serious about delving deeper into Ja Ja Binks's character and story to add a different spin to the star wars universe. Can't wait. He's the reason Episode 1 was so good.

Here's a good article about how the movie might not be so good:

I agree that the dialog in the clip is terrible. Still looks like a fun movie though.

Gotta see it once at least to make fun of it. If it is good, then that will be a pleasant surprise.

Is this still releasing in 3-D or did Cameron let that idea die?

The film will be released in 2D and 3D formats, along with an IMAX 3D release in selected theaters. The film is being touted as a breakthrough in terms of filmmaking technology, for its development of 3D viewing and stereoscopic filmmaking with cameras that were specially designed for the film's production.[8] The film has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA for intense epic battle sequences and warfare, sensuality, language and some smoking.[9]

It's Cameron though so I have to figure out what is more important to me, my personal ban on 3D movies or love for Cameron's sci-fi...

I agree. The CGI looks like crap. They should have just used all CGI, the real actors don't mix well. I'll rent it maybe. I know it will have great acting with the likes of Michelle Rodriguez in it.

Just watched that "new" trailer. This story seems similar.. Like when Europeans came to America, killed the "savages" and stole the gold. This time their after a new shiny metal! Go Marines! hoorah!

Summarized my impressions of the trailer.

I find this is most likely going to be awful. The storyline just seems like a feeble excuse to animate some feline-like creatures and explosions. It's not particularly interesting or original. And then there's the ubiquitous love that will occur between the male character and the female feline. How trite.

Personally, I'll be giving this a wide berth.

The trailer looks uninteresting, especially the character design. I really do want to see it though, it being the first film shot in full 3-D.

I think the south park episode already made a good joke about this film.

Still looking forward to see it though, due to James Cameron obviously.
