SEC filings have revealed that Electronic Arts borrowed $1 billion from Morgan Stanley and other lenders to help finance a possible acquisition of Take-Two.

"There's no news here," said EA VP of communications Jeff Brown. "This is just a process point on something we announced in February."

With $2.3 billion on hand in cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments, EA already has the funds available to do the deal as it currently stands. With the deal not contingent on financing, why borrow more money?

"It helps us maintain maximum flexibility for any opportunities," said Brown.

Take-Two had no comment as of press time.

with $500 million in earnings from GTA4, aren't Take-Two stocks significantly higher?
meaning they could possible command a higher price, or even deter EA?

I think EA should publish every game. It seems to be what they want.

UBI Soft managed to fight off EA (though they lot 14%) hopefully Take-2 can do the same.

Is Trip Hawkins on the EA payroll? That would explain a lot. I think he is, isn't he?

Oh how I wish he died with the 3DO. He's not dead yet he's out there f-ing up some other company and I think it's EA.

3DO left a horrible taste in my mouth. I still to this day can't believe I wasted $500 on that POS.
