Hi there.

Was wondering if anyone could tell me how the registering of the Playstation2 machines work. The reason I ask is because when I had a japanese dreamcast I had to connect it with a phone line and register my machine over in Japan before I was able to use my own IP provider. My worry is therefore if my PS2 machine needs to be connected to Japan while I register it before FFXI play is possible. I live in Norway (Europe) and have a japanese PS2 with HDD unit and broadband connection at home. I have already ordered FFXI online from playstation.com and pretty much ready to be playing it if it's possible from Norway.

The best thing would be if the machine could be register from Norway instead of me having to phone japan to register it. Even better would be if you didn't have to register your machine at all.

If anyone knows how this work, then it would be great if you could tell me. Will be expensive if I have to send my machine to japan to get it registered.

Thank you

I also have DC Jap and I live in Thailand.
I don't have to register in jap. I only use the web broswer from usa dc. then I connect to my isp that it.

And about ps2 I think not.

Yeah, I know those US browser discs are available. Only thing is that I bought my dreamcast in japan on launch day (27th of nov 98), and that disc didn't come out until PSO was out in the US nearly. I am therefore wondering how you do it at the moment when no cracked disc or something is available. I need to know if I have to register it in japan, cause it I have to then I will send it to japan tomorrow.

If anyone out there who lives in Japan knows about this then it would be great if you could let me know what to do.

Anyone tried the EGBrowser for PS2 and live abroad? Did you have to register the machine in japan first, or could you connect through the country you were in?
