View Full Version : Zelda delay!?

Check out the date for Zelda. It's now listed as Q2 2003. Japan may still get it for this year. We can hope it ships in early Q2 03, which would be late spring - April or May and doesn't pull a Starfox and bump from spring to fall.

Huh- that wouldn't be cool.. unless it's delayed to be even more fantabulous.

Oh bugger....If it comes to US at Q2 of 2003 i dont even wanna think when it comes to Europe!:too mad:

At least we know Zelda is coming out in Japan on December 13, the US version shouldn't be too far away.

Dont worry. If theres a huge delay between the US and Europe version, which I doubt since almost every GC game has come out ultra quick, you can always import it and load it up with the gameshark. Happy days!

Japan I think might be delayed as well.

I wouldn't expect a large delay on Zelda. Nintendo will probably want it out before May next year at the latest and Ocarina and Majora came out in Europe within 3 weeks of the US release. With Zelda Nintendo is usually quite good when releasing them.

Ok I heard the delayed was false alarm. I'll find a link, if I don't, don't bitch to me about it.

News Article: Zelda = February

No Zelda delay? That's what Nintendo says. Get the official word right here.

Final Update: According to our Nintendo sources, Zelda is still on track for a February release. From what we've been told, Zelda is a lot further along than most believe, and could actually make the February release.

We'll keep you posted.

Update: Nintendo's Top Ten Page now lists "The Legend of Zelda" as releasing in March 2003, and the main game page now reflects the Q1 2003 date. We're still waiting official word from Nintendo on the release date.

While the game was just confirmed for release in December of 2002 for the Japan market, the game has seemingly been delayed until June, 2003 in the North American market.

We're still waiting for offical word of the delay from Nintendo, and it's possible that this is out-of-date information. However, it wouldn't be the first time a localization project with a great deal of text took six months or more. Animal Crossing's localization was a nine-month job, but Animal Crossing has much more text than a Zelda title.

We'll have more information as we get it.

Rick says: At least we HAVE a date now. Not a big deal, translation work takes time, and it's reasonable to assume that now that Bill Trinen is finished with Animal Crossing, he'll likely be spending a good deal of time working on Zelda.

Jonathan says: I'm glad to see that it might have been a mixup. I still wouldn't be surprised to see the game delayed until Christmas though.

As for the translation, remember that Bill Trinen is just the lead translator at NOA. He has a team of translators under him that work on all these games for us. The two Zelda titles on N64 were translated by someone else...Dan Owsen worked on Ocarina of Time, if I remember correctly, and some guy from Nintendo Power handled Majora's Mask. So it wouldn't surprise me to see either one of those guys translate the new Zelda, though Dan is probably too busy running Nintendo's website these days.

June 2003! That's much worse than I thought. This explains why Wario World was bumped till early 03, to make up for the Zelda delay!

Um.. Zelda is still coming out Feb 2003 :D

Supposedly, anyhow. :2happy:

They're probably too busy playing it to be bothered translating it :D

How familaristicallyer similar to news we just heard.

Dude, check out the date of the 1st post. You brought back an old thread to life, the Zelda in question is Wind Waker. It is a good reminder though of just how often Nintendo has delayed prior Zelda games.

I know that, I did it on purpose and I was just saying they were similar. so?

Don't worry Justin, I understood the purpose and found it entertaining to read the delay comments from back then.

There is no reason to revive this thread, other than stupidity and clutter.
