Apple has officially announced iPhone 5 at the press conference today. The device will have the A6 processor which has 2x faster processing power and graphics; 4" Retina display with 1130x640 pixels and 5 rows of icons + 4 shortcuts on the bottom, it is also 18% thinner than iPhone 4S. For wireless radio connection, it will support GPRS, EDGE, EV-DO, HSPA, 21Mbps HSPA+, 42Mbps DC-HSDPA and LTE, as well as 802.11a/b/g/n Dual Channel Wi-Fi connection with up to 150Mbps transfer speed. The phone is capable of 8 hours 3G or LTE talk time or browser, and 10 hours on WiFi browsing. The camera remains at 8MP but thinner.
Along with the iPhone 5 launch is the new Lightning 8-pin dock connector, replacing the old 30-pin connector. It is 80% smaller, more durable and reversible. The headphone is replaced by the new EarPod, which enhances mid-tones.
Launch date is Sep 21, 2012 in US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Full price is $699 for 16GB; in US the carrier contract price is $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB. Pre-order begins on Sep 14.
